Just bought a CMi guitar off ebay. The paint is worn away on the back, and the neck seems to have shrunk a little over the years, but I've got to say that so far I'm really enjoying playing this beauty (also bought an Epiphone Special 2, which hasn't the same feel).
I'd like to throw something in the mix. Some people have mention Ibaniez and the factory in Japan (beginning with F, forgot the name without checking). If my guitar is from the early 70's and from an initial Britsh source (the Marshall connection) then I was wondering if it might be connected to the Antoria label (another great forgotten make that was supposed to be British but was a front for Ibanez). I own a Rockstar and the woods and feel seem similar.
Any thoughts on this one?

Apols for the delay in replying; I've had modem trouble. You'll have seen the CMI sticky on this site. Unfortunately, lots of pics were stored on Sony's Imagestation which has now closed down, taking the pics with it. This is a great shame, and has made the thread a bit of a dead-link office. I'll try to find the time to do some corrective surgery on the thread.

Many a seller has linked Marshall's CMI to the Fuji-Gen Gakki factory. I still have no definite proof, but I am beginning to think that the later CMIs (some early ones are unconvincing copies) are likely to have been made at FGG or one of the quality Japanese factories. Some CMI Gibson copies have actually featured set necks and a CMI copy of a 4001 Ricbass was a real beauty. Only FGG and the like were making them to that standard, AFAIK.
