| I heard that you can date your guitar online at gibson.com so I went there and went to the electric guitar bluebook and read that if the guitar was from 1975-1977 it would have the following 1st and 2nd numbers on the serial number. "99=1975, 00=1976, and 06=1977. Mine was 00!!!!!(please note that when I looked through the 1980's and 1990's serial number dating charts none of them listed 00 as the first 2 digits, only the '75-'77s had 00 as one of the listed numbers). I knew I was correct when it said that if it was through 1975 to 1977 it would say "Made In U.S.A" on the back. Another thing that kinda pointed out that it was old when I got it was that the inlays were the dot inlays(usually seen on Fenders)and not the trapezoid inlays you see on the newer models. THAT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!! |

Any year is a great year for an SG, im the Biggest SG fan, my old bass player Gary had a 77 model, hardware was quite different from the standards of today and the 60's ones.
Very nice player though, but i do like the ,asetro trem 60's model, the long trem unit, just like Angus's guitar. |
