hello...i've been searching all over the interwebs trying to find what year my guitar was made. i understand YYMM##### or YMMY##### but here's my serial number on my epiphone les paul custom plus (discontinued):

311310646

Obviously not built in 1931..I bought it in 2001 or 2002 practically new from craigslist.

My next guess is my memory is off and i got it in 2003, the year it was made. this doesn't sit right. i know it was made in china...got the sticker and everything. also inspected by "inspection card QC". probably not relevant.

any help is very appreciated!!!!

also...any estimates on if this guitar will appreciate in value much now that it's discontinued?

Hmm...

Guitar Dater Project comes up with nothing under 'Epiphone' but (more worryingly) under 'Gibson' this comes up as made in '31 at a factory that opened in '74...I can only hope you included a cunning typo...?
Or, of course, The Guitar Dater Project is wrong. It is, after all, a perpetual WIP...

I had an Epi and couldn't find a year on it either... so I contacted Gibson.com and they confirmed that mine was a mid 70's Epiphone Gen. custom. they are very helpful when it comes to gibson and epiphone. try there.
