The Institute for the Musical Arts (IMA) is pleased to announce its Rock N'
Roll Camp for Teen-aged Girls, now in its fourth summer.

Three sessions of the camp will be offered: July 8-27, July 22-31 and August 5-14. The camps take place at IMA's east coast facility located in Goshen, Massachusetts. The cost is $850, and includes food, housing and instruction.

The camp, open to all teen-aged girls with an interest in performing, offers the opportunity to develop, arrange and perform original and cover tunes in a full band setting. IMA owns all the equipment necessary for any rock band and campers have access to it all. Participants bring original songs or creative writing and/or songs by other artists that they would like to learn. Selected original and cover tunes are arranged, charted out and rehearsed to perform for family and friends on the last day of the session.

The camp is led by three seasoned musicians: Singer-songwriter June Millington has been in bands since she was a teenager herself; her band FANNY was signed to Warner Brothers Records when she was 20 years old. Renowned as an electric guitarist, 'Guitar Player Magazine' called her "the hottest female guitar player in the industry." Evelyn Harris, who has been singing professionally for over 30 years, will work with vocalists and lead the vocal classes. A former member of the internationally acclaimed group Sweet Honey in the Rock, she has also received a Grammy nomination for her original work. Loren Weisman will be leading the drum clinics. Weisman has toured extensively with various bands and has over 150 albums under his belt as well as production and numerous session credits. These three teachers will be joined by other guest artists who will lead evening clinics.

The camp offers full scholarships based on demonstrated commitment to music and financial aid on the basis of need. For those interested in nurturing the dreams of young women rockers, a scholarship fund called In the Name of Our Mothers has been established to acknowledge the roll that individual women have had in nurturing the dreams of youth. Donors may wish to contribute funds in the name of any woman who has nurtured their dreams either directly or through example.
