Hey everyone, new to the forum. I just bought back my old bass from a guy and ive always wondered what make and model it is. Any help would be great. Ill give the general description and try to upload some photos as soon as i can. thanks
The bass is a simple 4 string with;
A 2+2 headstock,
rosewood fretboard,
neck through construction,
solid 5-layer wood body,
2 p-style pickups (1 a 1/2" from neck, other 1/4" from tailpiece),
18v active eq? (2 9v batteries in the electronics),
and 3 knobs (master volume, tone, and eq tone) and two selector switches (one for pickup selection, one for active eq)
The bass looks fairly old but it may have just been abused throughout the years, bought it in a pawn shop in texas.
There used to be a rhinestone pattern around the outside of the bass with a christian fish above the pickups.
The bass has no identifying markings on it other than a 'made in germany' stamp on the tuners.
Its a great bass and somewhat odd and ive always wondered where it came from. Like i said, any help would be appreciated and i will be uploading pics soon.
Thanks. |

Hello wb, and apols for the delay in replying. If the tuners say "made in Germany" then that suggests Schallers - although older ones have "made in W. Germany". If they are Schallers, those are quality tuners. The rest of your description sounds like quality construction but a picture or several would be very handy. The rhinestones and fish will be a previous customer addition.
Of course, the Schallers could also be an upgrade done by a previous customer. Off the top of my head, the two manufacturers of thru-neck basses with double P pups that spring to mind are BC Rich and Westone, but a pic of yours will help me greatly. |
