This isn't going to make any sense, as I was replying to a message on what is apparently the old version of this site. But, I'll try to quote the messages I'm replying to since I've already gone through this much trouble.

I just bought a mitchell guitar (used) model # MD700S and would love to know more about this guitar and who it's made by. It sounds great. Back and sides are rosewood and has solid cedar top with mahogany neck. Any info on guitar and/or maker will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Mitchell Guitars are custom made by a luthier named (surprise!) Bil Mitchell. try this link: www.bilmitchell.com

So, after much ado, here is my response that was nowhere near worth this much effort.

I don't think he's refering to a Bil Mitchell hand-made guitar. The model number he gave (MD 700-S) is very similar to the model number of my Mitchell MD 100-S. My Mitchell is a manufactured, entry-level guitar, it's top being the only solid piece of wood. It is in a different universe than a guitar crafted by Bil Mitchell. It's my guess that fsandos has a high-end "Mitchell Co." guitar. I haven't found much info on my "Mitchell". I can tell you that it was made in Indonesia and is a line that Guitar Center has carried, on and off, for at least ten years. I'll bet that Cedar top sounds pretty good, btw.

it'll still help others who have similar questions... and even those ppl who used to post on the old site when it was anonymous but only lurk now and are too scared to register, possibly like the person who answered the question in the first place...

keep it up... musicians need help from other musicians... who the hell else is going to help us?

Smile

Plucker, I did the same thing. Searching for "lefty 5-string bass" led me to the old forum. It was a Q for lefty, 5-string basses (circle, spiral, helix - back to my own buttocks). So, I registered, posted what I knew, and here I am.

Maybe the old poster has read and gained, maybe not. I'm having fun here anyway. I might drop a load of 'pads' and get to the "got rhythm" legend; if a moderator doesn't spot it. Razz

Lee, you'll just have to believe me on this. I read your message, looked across at your display and it said, "Posts:69"

It'll have moved up by now, but that was just classic - a rhythm method that's 100% effective Smile
