Now i'm probably ruining any form of cred i was hanging onto here - but Wham's I'm Your Man and Wake me up before you go-go are both great songs. lets not get into specifics. My point is, no matter how great - I wouldn't sing em in a dark alley.

Yours...

Personally, I wouldn't even whistle either of those tunes while being checked for emergency prostate trouble on a back-packing trek of Albania. What (I think) I'm saying is that I can think of better things.

I know it's his money vs mine, but I've never understood this "George Michael's a great songwriter" idea. But then, I used to sing Scritti Politti's "Absolute" down dark alleyways back in the 80s. I knew no fear. Smile

Idea Idea?

"If you're gonna do it
do it right
right? Do it with me.
If you're gonna do it
do it right
right? Do it with me. "

Those lyrics alone are pure genius man.

Top marks go to Spice Girls' debut "Wannabe". This was once read by Peter O'Toole - all Shakespearean - until he cracked up laughing:

I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want"
"Well, tell me what you want, what you really, really want"
"I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna -
I wanna zig-a-zig eeaarghhh."

Good for them. Incidentally, just got back from chez guitarist, who's gone all keen on Kaiser Chiefs. They've re-released "I predict a Riot" and he lurves it. I told him to check the lyrics. There's tongue in cheek, but then there's talking out of buttocks...

Watching the people get lairy
Is not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
And not very sensible either
A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never have happened to Smeaton
And old Leodiensian
La-ah-ah, la la lalala la
Ah-ah-ah, la la lalala la

I predict a riot, I predict a riot
I predict a riot, I predict a riot

I tried to get in my taxi
A man in a tracksuit attacked me
He said that he saw it before me
Wants to get things a bit gory
Girls run around with no clothes on
To borrow a pound for a condom
If it wasn't for chip fat, well they'd be frozen
They're not very sensible
Shocked

"operation and nine,
lines and Champagne Gold,
Sounds can be easy,
to a new level."

Words and lyrics are over rated, its the music that counts,
Those words were taken from the Zoom Bass 505 Mk ll Manual, in true carol vorderman style i took a line from the top, 1 from the 2nd and 3 from the bottom, i was going to put in 'FP02 Expression pedal $69.99 ' but i thought that was taking the piss.

As for Scritti Politti !! now your talking, Green was the best vocalist of the 80's and how about Prefab Sprout too?

so what your saying Lee is if one were to sing...

"better shape up, cause I need a man"

to say a heavy metal sound, it wouldn't be near as bad as Olivia Newton John?

I never know where you're leading me, Lee Smile . Usually, bad places. Still, each night I go to bed I pray like Aretha Franklin, so I'm covered on that front. Anyway, words are trains, for moving past what really has no name.

I don't even need to Google to conjure up Scritti lyrics and Prefab Sprout. Funnely nuff, I read your
Quote:

and liked it, in a strange, abstract way. I was going to finish it with "And I'm hungry like the wolf", in a Simon le Bon whine stylee.

(I'm sure I've gone plotless by now Laughing )
