Envy, the old 'Green eyed monster' , Mr Ashcroft was probably going to ask me to join his latest band, but he obviously thought Chav got in their first.
Paul Weller is the person i want to meet, our Bassman Gary in the originals band i play in, his sister is married to a drummer in a well known band, and went to see weller on the last tour, and of course was invited backstage to talk paradiddles with Steve White.
Spoke to Weller and Craddock and Minchelo too.
Gary is gonna have a chat with him to try and get a pass for me for the next tour, i know it's sad, im 40 years old and have idolised him since i was 13 (Weller that is, not Gary) and OK i want to shake hands with him, i'll admit it to my shame.
Our drummer in the same originals band, was a roadie for quite a few years in 70's and 80's, he says Weller is a %$&%, but who cares, i just want to shake his hand.
Am i sad?
How about you guys? who would you like to meet? |

According to Geldof's autob, The Jam supported the Rats and he also thought they were humourless ****s.
I'd like a drink with Victoria, who played "tinkerbelle" in the panto  . Jarvis Cocker is interesting. I mean, he really is like that. If it's a show put on for interviewers, he ought to be getting tired of it by now. I found him pretty fascinating. |

The one my sprog was in. She thought he was cute; kept delivering his lines direct to her chest. Isn't it annoying that it's "cute" when 7-year-olds do it?
Anyhoo, perhaps we ought to steer back to safer ground rather than ogling girls? I can think of bass players I'd happily have a drink with. Vanessa auf der Mar, Kim Deal, that blonde one from the band with the rubbish "Be My Rock 'n' Roll Queen" song... |

Many years ago when I were ne'but lad, I was touring in a rock musical as the guitarist. The company manager one K.R. (who had the dubious honour of being the voice of the Rowntrees Fruit Gums ad. who said the immortal line...."Don't forget the Fruit Gums, mum!") toured with The Jam as stage manager. He told me that they were a boring bunch of er... chaps and that he'd take a theatre tour any day.
And while we're about it... on my 18th birthday I sat in the front room of one Robert Fripp and he showed me loads of stuff, then we diddled the "Moto Perpetuo from Fracture" together. Two things stuck in my mind about this day.. one was that HE tripped up and made the mistakes in said epic... and the second was that he was wearing green nylon Marks & Spencer's carpet slippers. Hardly rock-god attire, now is it?!
And while we're about it.. Alison Mack is worth inviting to your local Whist Drive. She'd definately "enhance the visual amenity"! |
