I'm not talking about the obvious guitars that you might covet, the Les Pauls Standards, Customs, whatever, I'm talking about the oddball guitars that are not exactly in the mainstream but which you can't help liking, although you're not quite sure why.
For me, it's the Ovation Breadwinner.

Fenders? That's cheating! Unless you fantasize about owning an Arrow or that other chopped-about one whose name escapes me right now.
How about the Gibson Corvus? Anyone got a secret desire to own one of these? Or perhaps you already do? |

Hey, Brad, good choice!
I'm not a big fan of trems, but I've also got a hankering for a Bigsby-equipped guitar. In the back of my mind I'm thinking it's a toss-up between a Duesenberg, a Epiphone Wildcat, or a Fender Thinline Tele. One day perhaps. |

OK, it's a Fender; but I'm not cheating. It's a Bass V. Even rarer than the Bass VI (which was, really, more of a baritone guitar. A lot of Jack Bruce recordings like "I Feel Free" are Bass VI, not Gibson EB) the Bass V was a weird forerunner of the Mustang Bass in many ways. It was meant to be EADGC but would be a much better idea as BEADG:
Oh, and out of the maybe 200 made, I'd like a left-handed one |

Ooh! Looks like I've got an option on a Breadwinner, so I might be getting one after all. I'll let you all know IF it happens.
It's real edge of the seat stuff, eh folks? |

| I'll be kind, Alan. The Aria Pro IIs were affordable instruments that you could really gig with. I used an Aria bass for about ten years, doing pub gigs. I felt horrible finally selling it; it was like shooting a horse. |
