This limited edition instrument features an special design derived from Takamine’s over 50 years of guitar building experience and craftsmanship.

As expected from a limited run instrument, Takamine pulled no punches, adding as much aesthetic features as possible while utilizing the best materials that they can get their hands on.

The body of the guitar features a new slope-shoulder dreadnought cutaway design that combines a solid Sitka spruce top with solid flame maple back and sides. This combination strays from traditional use of mahogany for the sides, said to produce a more articulate voice with improved dynamics.

The neck is made of mahogay and it joins the body at the 12th fret. It has a scale length of 24.75″, fingerboard radius of 12″ and is topped by an ebony fingerboard with 20 frets. The fingerboard and the pickguard showcases artful images of the bird that symbolizes central Japan’s Gifu prefecture – the snow grouse, or raicho. This bird inhabits the Hida mountains and provided the original inspiration for the Takamine name. According to them, “the graceful raicho imbues this elegantly appointed instrument with the very spirit of Takamine and its Japanese homeland.”

This acoustic-electric guitar comes equipped with the CT4-DX preamp paired with a Palathetic under-saddle pickup. It allows for better tone control and feedback reduction via the 4-band EQ, two notch-filters and volume control. It also comes with an onboard tuner for convenience and has a Dual-pickup mix control if you choose to add a second pickup which usually would be an internal microphone.

Takamine’s unique split saddle bridge design is present on this guitar, sitting atop a rosewood bridge. Other hardware and eye candies include cosmo black tuners, abalone rosette, ivoroid binding and abalone purfling for the headstock and the body. The guitar comes with a transparent black burst finish and ships with a deluxe hard-shell case.

The Takamine LTD2014 is a guitar that only a privileged few can get their hands on, with a MSRP of $5,099.99. You can find out more by visiting Takamine.
