I just bought my first ridiculously expensive guitar, and I'd like to do something besides leave it in the case, but I don't wanna risk messing it up in any way. I'd prefer hanging it on a wall, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Does anyone know if hanging it by the neck (i.e. with a little "U"-shaped hanger that screws into the wall, like some guitar shops use) can cause the wood to warp or anything like that? I'd like to have it off the floor and visible, but not in such a way that'll damage it, even over time.

Those 'U' hangers are very good, there are lots of different types, i use the ones that have a locking bar that snaps over the front to stop the guitar falling off.
The parts that touch the guitar are covered with a spongy material so it wont mark the neck.
Hanging a guitar by the neck will not harm it in any way, make sure you don't hang it near a radiator or fire or in direct sunlight, just use a bit of common sense.
What kind of guitar is it? tell us a bit about it.

Lee.

I've hung some of my guitars on the wall for years now, and they've never suffered any ill-effects.

However, I'd advise hanging your guitar somewhere that isn't visible to the outside world through your window, else you may have burglars visiting.

Unless you are displaying a Antigua Fender Strat, which of course is safe even in the darkest corners of drug ridden Manchester.
I think if you got caught stealing one of those you would be doing time with a Psychiatrist rather than doing some bird in the local nick. Laughing

Blimey, you won't let that antigua Strat thing lie, will you? I like them. Personally I can't see why anyone would want a sunburst or black one.

Anyway, I sold mine, so it's history.

Lee's memory is elephantine; like his ears. Still, he hasn't mentioned young tennis players and Hondos for a while so I'm happy Smile

A '64 Strat; I feel a little weird talking about it, 'cause I got it for so little- like it'll disappear if anyone finds out. Anyway, it's rockin'. And white.
