I have a 20+ year old Gibson J-30. It needs a set up and new tuning keys (the originals are garbage -- I had to replace 2 with some grovers I had on an old Guild that I had canibalized. Now another one is going).

So I don't want to trust my baby to just anyone. There are lots of places around Boston that will do a settup. How do I find one that will do top notch work? And how much can I expect to pay? Any help will be appreciated.

I'd really be curious to get some advice on this. I am trying to decide whether I should get the guitar set up and the keys replaced or just trade it in or sell it and getting a better guitar. I played a used Martin D-30 last week and was not impressed with the sound as compared to my Gibson. The intonation and action was better, however; and I figured a set up might remedy that.

Any accoustic players out there? Any recommendations on the best tuners for accoustic guitars? Any tips on preventing slippage on the G?
