Hi. Yes the top of the pots is grounded to the bridge but I'll give it a go shielding the cavities. Thanks for your reply.

I'm living with this. It's not as bad as all that and having mucked about with my other (commercially built) guitars at high gain settings they can be made to do it too, although to a much lesser exte ...

Arpeggio is from a Italian word that means 'to play on the harp' and dates from the 18th Century. If you think about melodies typically played on a harp it makes sense.
