From the ones you mentioned, it sounds like you're into Jazz music. If so, check out a few of these incredible Jazz bassists: Charles Mingus, Stanley Clarke, Ray Brown and Oscar Pettiford.

I don't know about that specific model, but I've had an Ashdown Bass Head for 5 years now and it's been nothing but great for me. I'd say go for it!
