Breedlove Pursuit Concert Koa
Breedlove introduces the Pursuit Concert Koa, a limited run all-koa body acoustic-electric with modern electronics.

Breedlove Oregon LTD Myrtlewood
This guitar is a limited edition model under the Breedlove Pursuit line, featuring exotic tonewood combination that you don't normally get in production line models and built following the company's distinct aesthetic designs.
Breedlove is known for their use of exotic tonewoods on their premium models, but the Pursuit series is relatively more accessible, so it's interesting to see a guitar with an all koa body from the line.
The focal point of this guitar is its koa back and sides, and solid koa top, a combination that is sure to give the guitar a distinct earthy appeal. And it's not just about being a visual standout, because koa is known for having a rich, sweet tone that sits in between spruce and mahogany topped acoustics. Since the top is crafted from solid tonewood, the instrument will open up as it gets played, and is expected to sound better with age.
The body of the guitar follows Breedlove's original and most popular "concert" shape with a soft cutaway for easy upper fret access. This particular shape is known for improved articulation designed specifically for the fingerstylist, and it should complement the koa body really well to produce a balanced tone that is not boomy.
The Pursuit Concert Koa has a mahogany neck, that features Breedlove's slimmer neck profile that is designed to be comfortable to play. The neck is hand-rubbed and finished in semi-gloss for improved playability. It has a 20-fret Indian rosewood fingerboard with a 25.5" scale length and 1-11/16" nut width.
For plugging in, this guitar comes equipped with Fishman Isys+ USB, as the name implies, this piezo pickup and preamp comes with its own USB port for direct recording. While I'm not really a fan of this feature, I can imagine it to be quite handy in many situations, and since the Fishman Isys sounds great for live use, there's really not much to complain about.
Interesting Breedlove only features include the "Pinless" bridge which is said to improve resonance and "bridge truss" which improves structural stability. Wrapping up its features are the centered dot inlays, gold closed gear tuners, and the elegant binding and rosette.
The MSRP for the new Breedlove Pursuit Concert Koa is $1,335, but it is expected to retail for around $999. For more information, visit Breedlove Music.
