This new signature acoustic guitar is set to debut at the upcoming 2016 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show in Anaheim, California, along with other new and upcoming Cort instruments.

Frank Gambale is a GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology) graduate who eventually performed and also taught at the school. He is known for his use of the “sweep picking” and economy picking technique, both of which influenced many of the shred and jazz fusion players today – but these two techniques are mostly done on electric guitars. So it is quite interesting how Cort ended up making an acoustic signature guitar for Frank, instead of an electric.

The press release adds “Frank Gambale has spent nearly four decades playing, writing, recording, performing, and teaching. His sweep-picking technique revolutionized guitar playing and continues to inspire generations of musicians in all genres. A graduate of GIT and former instructor at the music school, Gambale has released numerous instructional books and DVDs, in addition to 20 studio albums, plus live albums and collaborative projects. A prolific and innovative songwriter, he has published over 200 songs and continues to tour with his various groups internationally.

Cort has not provided that many details about the upcoming new acoustic, but some basic specifications were provided. Most notable of which is the use of premium tonewoods which include solid Adirondack spruce for the top and and flamed blackwood for the back and sides, all of which form the guitar’s concert body shape. This particular traditional style wood configuration is expected to provide balanced tonality.

The guitar’s neck is crafted from mahogany following traditional builds and is topped by an ebony fingerboard with a 43mm nut width. While scale length and other details are not yet available, it would be safe to assume that Frank and Cort went for a shred-friendly neck profile and configuration.

Being a workhorse instrument the Frank Gambale Signature Model comes bundled with LR Baggs EAS-VTC EQ pickup and preamp system. This premium set of electronics transforms the acoustic into a stage ready instrument. It also comes bundled with a guitar case upon purchase. And since this guitar is crafted by Cort, you can expect it to have a reasonable if not affordable price tag.

More information regarding the Frank Gambale Signature Acoustic Guitar will be available soon at Cort Guitars. You can also visit the company’s booth at the upcoming NAMM Show, specifically at stand #4456, Hall C.
