Phil Jones is set to release an upgraded limited edition version of their portable bass amp – the Briefcase Ultimate.

This new hot-rodded version feature more power and larger voice coils, which simply means louder performance while retaining its small size.

Introduced 10 years ago, the humble PJ Bass Briefcase continue to satisfy the demands of professional bassists, now with more than 5,000 units in 28 countries. Phil Jones now wants to follow up this success by releasing the PJ Bass Briefcase Ultimate.

Compared to the original, the limited edition bass amp will have more power and will be louder. From the original 100 Watt RMS performance, this upcoming amp is rated at 160 Watts RMS. It also features new more powerful Piranha speakers, featuring larger voice coils and magnet system.

Louder is not necessarily better especially when the sound is muddled or distorted, so Phil Jones equipped the Briefcase Ultimate with their Rectangular Auxiliary Low Frequency Radiator. The RALFR was first introduced in the bigger PJB Double Four, and it is designed to allow the sound to be louder, deeper and cleaner.

Like the original, the Ultimate version can run on AC power or via an optional 12 volt rechargeable battery. It retains the portability and compact size that helped popularize the original amp, while improving the power and features. Other features include a 5-band EQ, limiter and dedicated active/passive inputs. It also comes with DI, preamp and headphone outputs.

The new Phil Jones Bass Briefcase Ultimate is expected to be available in late summer 2013. They will only be available in very limited supplies, so if you are interested, you are advices to reserve early. Pricing information will be available soon.
