Smoker’s Delight pot leaf guitar

Martin had an acid trip acoustic a few weeks back, but it really is nothing when you drop the Smoker's Delight guitar into the equation. Designed by the folks at Basone Guitars in Canada, Smoker's Delight is a pot leaf shaped electric made from Western Maple. I know it was released a couple of years back, but I honestly had not seen it. Or to the best of my recollection. Take a look at this image from the Basone website for the full specs: Starts at $3000 CAD and shows your support just that little bit more more than 3000 Legalize It bumper stickers. 60th Anniversary Telecaster and Precision Bass Models from Fender

Fender is proud to introduce a new guitar and bass that commemorate six decades of the company’s original pair of groundbreaking instruments—the Telecaster and Precision Bass guitars. Early 2011 sees the release of the 60th Anniversary Telecaster and 60th Anniversary Precision Bass, both of which feature a new “Blackguard Blonde” finish created especially for the occasion. The rich history of Fender guitars begins with the instrument that was officially named the Telecaster in February 1951. It was the world’s first successful solid-body electric guitar, transforming the role of the guitar in popular music and becoming an enduring model of form and function in the process. Still elegantly simple after 60 years, it remains the versatile voice of diverse and creative guitarists worldwide. The 60th Anniversary Telecaster honors its predecessors by packing more than half a century of classic sound and design into one collectible U.S.-made instrument, with a striking combination of vintage looks and modern Telecaster technology. Features include an ash body with a Blackguard Blonde thin-skin lacquer finish, tinted maple neck and fretboard with modern 9.5” radius and medium jumbo frets, American Vintage Telecaster single-coil pickups, black pickguard, American Standard bridge with bent steel saddles and stamped brass plate,

Fender Bassbreaker Amps for Guitar

Fender expand their electric guitar amplifier offering with the new British voiced all-tube BassBreaker series. Related Feature:Best Blues Amps This new line of amplifiers are inspired by classic Bassman amps, combined with modern enhancements that expand tone versatility and quality, aimed at making the popular Bassman amp viable for today’s players. This release is quite surprising in that instead of having a small conservative number of initial models, Fender went for an immediate release of a wide selection of amp models that come in various shapes, sizes and configurations. This shows how confident the company is about the design of the Bassbreaker, in that they didn’t even test the waters before going all out. The press release mentions that this new line of amps come with unique circuitry, power tubes (EL84) and speakers that give this amp the ability to reproduce “British” style amps. And it’s easy to pinpoint which UK amp is being hinted at, especially when they mentioned in the press release that these are the same “U.K. amps that “borrowed” Fender circuits in the 1960s.” If the press release and use of EL34s / EL84s still does not ring a bell, then maybe the BassBreaker’s “crunch” friendly

Red Hot Chili Peppers “Unplugged” at the Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Red Hot Chili Peppers had a different kind of “unplugged” performance at the Super Bowl, and it has nothing to do with acoustics – they mimed their parts. Related Feature:Are We Really Falling Out Of Love With Music Festivals? RHCP bassist Flea himself admitted to syncing with a pre-recorded track, tweeting “No trickery. No choice, but no trickery”. Among the first to spot the unplugged guitar and bass during the live performance are musicians themselves, the news is then quickly spread thanks to social media and the internet. Various pictures and clips of the band’s performance then confirmed that the Josh and Flea were indeed not plugged in to anything, not even a dummy wireless pack or cable. Some peole could not believe that the lively Red Hot Chili Peppers would pull a mime, citing explanations that the guitar and bass may have built-in wireless capabilities, even suggesting Bluetooth. But all the speculations were put to rest when Flea himself admitted the incident and explained their side of the story through their website. Since Flea, Josh and Chad are known for putting on great live performances, why would these veteran musicians run tracks on a song that they’ve been

Being part of Martin’s Custom Shop built line, this particular model is meant for guitarists that are looking for upper-tier boutique acoustic guitars. Cocobolo is an exotic tonewood that is popularly used on premium guitars by various guitar builders. This tropical hardwood has great looking grains that are pleasing to the eyes, and more importantly when used on a guitar, it behaves like a combination of rosewood and koa. So it is not surprising to find companies like Martin using this tonewood on their premium guitars. The solid cocobolo back and sides of the CS-00041-15 are paired with a solid Adirondack spruce top, a premium combination that when built properly – like by Martin’s best luthiers at the Custom Shop, would expectedly look and sound impressive. Martin OMC-15E

The Martin OMC-15E is a solid mahogany body acoustic-electric with new Fishman Matrix VT Enhance Electronics. Related Feature:Best Mics for Recording Acoustic Guitars This instrument is part of the company ever expanding line of acoustics, and was released alongside a number of other new guitars during the recently concluded 2016 NAMM Show. Having had worked together for over three decades now, Martin and Fishman has formed quite the alliance. However, we all know that Fishman also supplies other acoustic guitar builders with their pickups, and so Martin wanted to have a Fishman built electronic system especially designed just for them. And so the proprietary Fishman Matrix VT Enhance pickup system was born, and is now being utilized in many of Martin’s new guitar offerings. The Martin OMC-15E is among the acoustic-electrics that benefited in this new development. This pickup system retains Fishman’s popular Matrix under-saddle pickup technology, but adds in a new “Enhance” element. This Enhance element feature lets you blend in natural sounds that are coming from the body of the guitar, allowing for techniques like body tapping and percussive playing. And interestingly, blending the piezo and element sound is as easily done via controls mounted on the soundhole.

Epiphone AJ-220S

The Epiphone AJ-220S is an affordable solid top acoustic guitar based on the 1936 bell shaped dreadnought Gibson Advanced Jumbo.   This shapely guitar has a larger lower bout and a smaller rounded upper bout which helps it create a focused and even tone. The first thing you’ll notice is the guitar’s one-inch wider 16″ lower bout that gives it a bell-like shape. This results in better bass response and louder overall volume.   For its price, you would expect this guitar to use entry level or mediocre tonewoods and construction. However, upon closer inspection, you will find that the top is made of solid Sitka Spruce which is a pleasant surprise for the price range of AJ-220S. The resonant top is complimented with mahogany back and sides, while the glued-in neck is made of solid mahogany. The satin finished neck has a comfortable profile, bearing a SlimTaper 1960’s D-shape.   Other upscale features include a bound fingerboard and great looking die-cast tuners with 14:1 gear ratio. The guitar also has a solid “reverse-belly” Rosewood bridge with compensated saddle that gives it a traditional look and helps ensure intonation and stability. Finally a tortoise-colored pickguard with the “E” logo rounds

Epiphone introduces their first self-tuning acoustic-electric guitar, the FT-350SCE with Min-ETune. Related Feature:Epiphone Hummingbird Pro This affordable instrument features the automatic mechanical tuner system Min-ETune, especially tweaked to work with the touchy tuning of acoustic guitars. It discretely attaches to the back of the headstock and allows for instant tuning with a simple press of a button, just like the ones found on more expensive Gibson electric guitars. Epiphone made a great move to finally get the Min-ETune built into acoustic guitars, especially since acoustic players are more inclined to use alternative tunings to make solo playing more interesting. This robot tuner is paired with a straightforward cutaway dreadnought style guitar. It features a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides.
