TC Electronic Sentry Noise Gate

TC Electronic expands their TonePrint line yet again, this time with a versatile noise gate pedal, the Sentry Noise Gate. Related Feature:TC Electronic Hypergravity Compressor This new release follows a week after they launched the Hypergravity compressor, and is a sure sign that the company is not slowing down, even in the midst of news that their mother company TC, was up for grabs. Speaking of Hypergravity, the new Sentry Noise Gate features the same MD3 algorithm that is based on their popular studio processing gear System 6000. Only this one is primed to provide studio quality hum canceling and buzz killing action. For precise and seamless noise reduction, this pedal comes equipped with studio quality multiband gating functions. This allows for surgical noise busting, gating only unwanted noise while letting the details of your guitar tone pass through. TC Electronic says that this makes the pedal flexible enough to handle even subtle noise gating duties, going beyond the usual high-gain cleanup that noise gate pedals are most commonly used for. For those looking for old school gating, you can check out the pedal’s classic hard-gate mode. This mode is ideal if you’re looking for a no-nonsense way of stopping

EHX Silencer

Electro-Harmonix announces the availability of the new Silencer, a versatile noise reduction pedal with gated effects loop. Related Feature:EHX 22500 Dual Stereo Looper This pedal is not your average noise gate, it provides fine-tuning controls so you can apply precise amount of noise reduction to your signal and allows for complex signal routing via the built-in effects loop. Launched at the recently concluded summer NAMM show, the Silencer is Electro-Harmonix’ most sophisticated noise gate pedal, with more controls and connectivity options than conventional pedals. It is equipped to work as an inline pedal or you can use it to gate an entire chain of effects conveniently. To let you precisely set the gate algorithm, the pedal comes with three knobs that let you adjust noise reduction, threshold, and release time. These knobs can be tweaked to handle various instruments, the type of pickups used, and your playing style, and it does so without taking up much pedalboard space. The Threshold knob lets you adjust the level needed to open the noise gate and allow your signal to pass through. It starts at full gate open which allows all your signal to pass through, turning the knob clockwise requires more level

Rocktron MicroHush Pedal

Rocktron introduces the MicroHush, a compact micro-pedal version of their popular Hush noise reduction pedal. Related Feature:Rocktron Hush 2X Like the original, the MicroHush lets you remove unwanted feedback, pickup buzz and the pesky hiss when using overdrive, and it does all this while maintaining signal fidelity and having a small footprint that saves precious pedalboard real estate. Getting your message across as clear as possible is as important as writing up the message, or in the guitar’s case, filtering unwanted noise is as important as playing the right notes. This is especially obvious when playing at high volumes or when using distortion effects, and is the reason why multi-effect pedals come with built-in noise reduction. The Rocktron MicroHush makes noise reduction more accessible to pedalboard users by miniaturizing the unit to save space. The company claims to be one of the leaders in guitar noise reduction, and looking at their extensive line of noise reduction pedals, it’s safe to say that they are not bluffing. MicroHush adds to the already long list of noise reduction pedals which include the Hush Super C, Hush Pro, Hush Ultra, Hush 2X and the original Hush. The Rocktron MicroHush is said to be

Rocktron introduces the updated version of their guitar noise reduction pedal, the new Hush2x, now with two channels. Related Feature:Rocktron Velocity 100 LTD Described as being a “double Hush” this new pedal offers two independent channels of noise reduction in a compact unit designed to easily sit on top of a guitar amplifier, or in a rack drawer to save precious pedalboard space. The original Hush circuit is still employed, allowing for up to 65dB of effective noise reduction for signal clean up. It was used to eliminate unwanted noise like cable/stompbox related hiss, excess feedback and unwanted noise that you get from pickups ad stage lighting. Now Rocktron is improving on this circuit by having two independent instances of the original noise reduction circuit placed side by side in a single compact unit. Hush 2X is designed to accommodate the modern player’s gear which are ever growing in complexity both in setup and signal routing. A specific example of how Hush 2X can be used is by having the first circuit connected after the pedalboard into the input of a guitar amplifier, while having the second circuit connected into the effects loop of the amp after your rackmount effects.

PRS P245 – NAMM 2015

PRS Guitars introduce the P245, a classic style single-cutaway electric guitar with built-in LR Baggs/PRS piezo system. Related Feature:PRS 30th Anniversary “Then & Now” This versatile instrument expands on the familiar short scale dual humbucker configuration by adding plugged-in acoustic tones that you can blend or separate as you prefer. If you are mainly playing electric guitar and require minimal acoustic sounds, it would be impractical and at times impossible to quickly move to your acoustic and then swap back to your electric – especially if you’re doing it within a single song. For this reason, guitar manufacturers have been looking for ways to provide a one guitar solution that can effectively cover both electric and acoustic guitar duties reasonably well. The P245 from PRS tries to do just that, adding modern acoustic piezo pickup technology into a traditional electric guitar. PRS worked together with LR Baggs to get convincing acoustic sounds built-into their electric guitar, resulting in a flexible and practical instrument. Like other piezo equipped electric guitars, the P245 has two output jacks to separate the two signals. You can plug the humbucker and piezo output separately to different amps, allowing for setup flexibility. This means that you

He was part of the team behind many of Gibson’s iconic guitar designs, including the Les Paul, SG, Explorer, ES-335, Flying V and many more. Paul said, “Ted’s instruments and patented parts came across my bench when I was in my West Street shop, so I knew who he was. I asked him to consult
