Fender adds a classic offset body shape to their U.S. made bass guitar lineup, the American Standard Jaguar Bass.

This is considered as the first ever Jaguar bass to be mass produced in Fender’s US-based facility, since the first Jaguar Bass was introduced in 2006.
Fender’s sub-brand Squier produced some cool variations of the Jaguar bass as part of their Vintage Modified series. These instruments caused many bassists to become more interested with the offset shape. Fender then followed up on the success of these affordable basses by adding a Jaguar Bass to their affordable Deluxe and Modern Player line.
This year, Fender finally includes the Jaguar Bass into their American Standard line, staying true to the design of the original while incorporating some nifty upgrades.
The body of the guitar is made from Alder, carved into the distinctive offset Jaguar shape. It comes in four different colors of gloss polyurethane – Olympic White, 3-Color Sunburst, Black and Mystic Red.
It has a maple neck with scale length of 34″ and carved into a modern “C” profile. The rosewood fretboard has 20 medium jumbo frets and pearloid block inlays. Important specifications include 9.5″ fingerboard radius and 1.5″ nut width. Stability is provided by the Posiflex Graphite neck support rod.
Fender equipped it with PJ (Precision Jazz hybrid) pickup system, featuring a single-coil jazz bass ceramic bar magnet pickup for the bridge, and an American Vintage ’63 Split Single-Coil Precision pickup on the neck. These pickups are routed to the Jaguar’s unique control setup that includes on/off and series/parallel switching, and upper-horn active/passive switch for dual-circuit design with inset bass and treble control wheels.
The Lower Control Plate lets you adjust Master Volume, Master Tone when in Passive Mode. The Upper Control Plate houses the Active/Passive Slide Switch, Treble Boost/Cut Thumb Wheel and Bass Boost/Cut Thumb Wheel.
The Lower Switch Plate has the Bass Pickup On/Off Slide Switch, J Bass Pickup On/Off Slide Switch, and the Series/Parallel Slide Switch that operates when both pickups are on.
Other features include combination top-load/string-through-body High-Mass Vintage bridge, lightweight Fender âFâ tuners with A-string retainer, and body-end truss rod adjustment.
