Takamine continues to ramp up the G-series this year and they wrap it up just before the year ends with a nylon string guitar series and two new acoustic basses.

The two G-Series basses come with a jumbo body style with enough depth to handle bottom end duties. They feature solid-top construction for improved resonance, soft Venetian-style cutaway and they come with built-in pickup and preamp system.

The GB30CE is the more straightforward model built on traditional combination of solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. The neck of this bass is made of mahogany and is topped by a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard. You can pick between two finishes – black or natural gloss finish.

The GB72CE is the flagship model and features improved cosmetics. It also has a solid spruce top but instead of mahogany, this bass features flame maple for the back and sides. The neck is also made of maple, giving this acoustic bass a slightly different sound, feel and look. Adding to the model’s bling factor are gold die-cast tuners. This model is also available in natural gloss finish, but to spice things up a bit, Takamine adds a Sunburst finish option.

Both basses follow the same structural design and specifications. The tops are supported by Quartersawn “X” bracing while the slim profile neck is attached to the body via a dovetail neck joint. Both bass guitars have a scale length of 34″, fingerboard radius of 16″ and a nut width of 1.77″.

For plugging in, the G Series Acoustic Basses are equipped with the Takamine TK-40B preamp system. It is features an acoustic piezo style pickup and preamp tweaked for bass, and feature controls for gain and three band EQ for tone shaping. Advanced tone shaping is provided by the mid-shift control and the bass-boost switch. An EQ bypass switch is also provided to give you as much control as you need over your amplifiied sound.

Other features of the G Series Bass include synthetic bone nut and bridge saddle, rosewood headcap, pearl dot fretboard markers and abalone rosette. The MSRP for the GB30CE model is $729.99, while the flagship model GB72CE is slightly pricier at $859.99. You can visit Takamine for the complete specifications and more information.
