Epiphone ES-339
Epiphone unveils a smaller ES series guitar, the Epiphone ES-339, a double cutaway, semi-hollowbody thinline guitar.
The ES-339 is designed by Gibson to bring you the best of both worlds - having the size and comfort of a regular solid body guitar, while maintaining the look, feel and sound of a semi-hollow body guitar.
Now Epiphone is bringing us these same combined features in a more affordable package with the Epiphone ES-339. In honor of the ES series which started in the late '50s, the Epiphone ES-339 aims to turn back the clock and bring you the same archtop feel and bell like tones of the original ES series guitars. The ES-339 was created in response to players that liked the ES-335 but felt that it was too big, giving the ES-339 a smaller body compared to its bigger ES series brothers. The same size dilemma still applies today, fans of smaller bodied semi-hollow will find the ES-339 a pleasant guitar.
At the core of the Epiphone ES-399 is a reduced size laminated Maple Body with a solid center block. It features the same classic ES Series shape. This body is hand-set and glued to its neck via a Mortise and Tenon neck joint with Titebond Glue. It has a SlimTaper "D" profile 24.75" Mahogany neck with 22 jumbo frets. Just like the original it has a 12" radius neck, an 11/16" nut and features a Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl inlays. Single Ply cream binding is applied on the fingerboard and body to complete the classic look. Available finishes include Ebony, Natural, Cherry and Vintage Sunburst.

Adding a touch of modern technology to the guitar, it is equipped with ProBucker humbucker that can switch back and forth between classic humbucker and single coil sounds. This is made possible by its 3-way Pickup Selector which features a push/pull coil tap, where in the neck and bridge pickup volume pots acts as easy-touch push/pull coil tap for quick changes between single coil and humbucker.
Other ES-339 all nickel hardware includes Epiphone's LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and LockTone Stopbar tailpiece along with Wilkinson 14:1 ratio vintage machine heads.
The current retail price for the Epiphone ES-339 is at $449, and is set to ship this December 2011.
