Fender American Standard Series 2012

Fender’s 2012 American Standard Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass now feature Fender Custom Shop Pickups.

Aside from the new pickup upgrades, these popular U.S.A. made go-to instruments also showcase subtle design improvements.

The American Standard Stratocaster is one of the few guitar models that made it to almost a household name status. The plastic parts now come with an aged look, which many found appalling but forgivable. The main change however is the installation of full-sounding Fender Custom Shop Fat ’50s pickups. The superstrat version American Standard Stratocaster HSS will also receive the same face-lift with aged plastic parts and Fender Custom Shop Fat ’50s single coils for the middle and neck position, the only difference is that it will have a Diamondback humbucking bridge pickup for added power and output. Thankfully the lefties are not left behind because these upgrades are also available in a left handed version.

The American Standard Telecaster had better upgrades in my opinion, it is now more sexier and comfortable with its improved body contour. Fender also introduced new “crispy” pickups – the classic sounding Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele for the neck and Broadcaster for the bridge. Left-handed model also available.

Our top bass guitar of choice – the American Standard Precision Bass gets a new Fender Custom Shop ’60s Precision Bass split single-coil pickup – this makes it sound closer to the original workhorse instrument that was widely used in popular music. A new finish for this indestructible bass guitar is also available – Jade Pearl Metallic finish. The same pickup upgrades also apply to the five-string American Standard Precision Bass V, and both are available in left-handed models.

Last but not the least, the American Standard Jazz Bass which come in left and right models received the same Custom Shop upgrade. It now comes with Fender Custom Shop ’60s Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, and a striking new Jade Pearl Metallic finish option. The American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless also feature the same new custom shop pickups and finish. Five string aficionados are not left out because the American Standard Jazz Base V now comes with the same Custom Shop ‘6-s Jazz Bass single-coil pickups.
