Ibanez and Paul Gilbert introduce the Fireman FRM100TR Guitar

Ibanez joined forces with Paul Gilbert once again to create the new Fireman FRM100TR guitar.

Paul Gilbert Fireman

The idea for this guitar came about when Paul Gilbert flipped the Iceman body upside down, liked how it looked and aptly named it Fireman.

Ibanez heeded the virtuoso’s call and started working on the original Ibanez Fireman model. It features all the specs that Mr. Big’s axeman required of it: a beefy set neck and a tail bridge for increased sustain and feel. Paul was the first one to use the original Fireman model, and after many hours of performance, use, feedback and adjustments, Ibanez and Paul finally came up with the final design of the FRM100TR – Fireman.

At first glance, you will notice the unique body shape, with its reverse Iceman body outline. The body is made of mahogany to make it resonate well. It comes equipped with the Ibanez Tight-Tune bridge and tailpiece hardware as Paul specified. Another special feature of the Fireman FRM100TR is the solid set in neck setup which has that extra thick wood for added sustain and stability.

Next thing that you will notice is the fatter 3 piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck profile. The neck is at 22mm around the 1st fret and 24mm at the 12th fret which gives it a more classic feel, improved playability and better grip. It also sports taller and narrower frets when compared to the other Paul Gilbert models, to achieve new levels of note definition and playability.

The FRM100TR is equipped with DiMarzio Injector pickups on the neck and bridge and a DiMarzio Area ’67 is installed for the middle pickup. These pickups were meticulously selected by Paul himself to ensure warm and modern tone that sounds right to his ears. These are routed to a 5 way pickup selector and controlled by tone and volume knobs that are positioned in a unique and Paul Gilbert requested layout.

Since tone is a never ending quest, Paul Gilbert has worked with Ibanez a number of times in the past and the FRM100TR represents his continued hunt for great tone.

As of this writing, FRM100TR current retail price is around $899.99
