Les Paul Classic Plus by Gibson

Featuring the Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus, based on Les Paul guitars crafted in the early ’50s and ’60s with some modern twists.

The Les Paul Classic Plus adds some new features to the tried and tested Les Paul standard formula, combining classic looks, vintage quality and modern sound.

It is very easy to like the Les Paul Classic Plus from Gibson USA, because it is the embodiment of the same legendary guitar, the Les Paul. And as usual it all begins with a wooden heart, the Les Paul Classic Plus employs premium tone woods.

It features a highly figured Grade-AA maple top, which is a serious looker when topped with your choice of high gloss, hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer finish, which includes Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Trans Ebony Burst, Vintage Sunburst, or Manhattan Midnight finish. The top is glued to a Grade-A Mahogany body, which is specifically chambered to enhance resonance while reducing weight. The combination of Mahogany and Maple produces a rich tonal complexity that is not found on basic single wood guitars.

The resonance and sustain is then further enhanced by the quarter-sawn mahogany neck with a 17-degree back angled headstock. You can pick your preferred neck profile – either a rounded ’50s style or the slimmer ’60s era neck profile. The fingerboard is made of heat treated baked maple and has a 12 inch fingerboard radius which ensures the famous choke free string bending capacity of Les Pauls.

Standard Les Paul appointments are present, you get the same acrylic trapezoid fingerboard inlays and you get the beautiful cream colored neck and body bindings. To ensure you get something more than classic, Gibson loaded the guitar with two hot humbucking pickups: The 496R in the neck and the 500T bridge pickup. The 496R pickups, like traditional PAFs, are wound with 42-AWG wire for vocal like tones, however it carries a ceramic magnet for improved punch and clarity. The 500T on the bridge is wound with a finer 43-AWG wire to ensure that the ceramic magnet is packed with enough coils to produce long sustain and scorching leads.

Other hardware includes a set of vintage-style TonePros tuners with pearloid buttons and the traditional Les Paul stop bar tail piece. Finally the guitar is protected in style with a black Gibson hardshell case with plush lining.

The current MSRP of the Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus is at $2,999.00.
