The Sonic Wind Guitar

A guitar that simply breezes into the “Weird & Wonderful” category!

No, I didn’t just pull this one out of thin air – Hector Trevino was kind enough to email me about his rather unique approach to guitar building.

Hector says this is a “guitar like no other”, and this has to be one occasion when the hype visually lives up to the claim.

At the heart of the design is the open chamber formed by the Maple body panels. Hector claims this results in a higher level of resonance than a regular solid body – unfortunately I haven’t been able to find an audio demo to check out the sound.

Apparently the overall design leaves the neck isolated from your body when you play it, resulting in increased sustain.

The fretboard is more conventionally made from Ebony with 24 frets at the 25″ scale.

And you will find the pickups familiarly Seymour Duncan – 2 humbucking and a single coil with 5-way switching.

If you’re interested in buying one then you’ll want to be quick, there are only 20 guitars planned for the initial production run, which will set you back $3,000 a piece – and Hector will throw in a molded hard case and lifetime limited warranty for materials and workmanship.
