An Old Favorite Made New Again: The Epiphone SST Studio Guitar

Epiphone has announced the return of the Epiphone SST Studio guitar, the iconic chambered acoustic/electric steel string guitar like the one played by countless legendary artists worldwide. The SST Studio still has the original solidbody acoustic design consisting of a solid Mahogany body that has been semi-hollowed, with special computer-designed sound cavities, when amplified by an undersaddle pickup produces great acoustic sound that is feed-back free.

The body is set to a Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard. The soundboard is a crisp sounding Spruce top with a complimenting Rosewood bridge. The guitar is equipped with Grover tuning machines for superior tuning stability.' The Epiphone SST Studio guitar takes its sound to an entirely new level with a specially designed pre-amp system from Shadow Electronics of Germany. The old-style piezo pickup has been replaced with the Shadow NanoFlex pickup which provides amazing fidelity of sound and is far superior in vibration transfer and acoustic wave-form amplification.

Because of the pickup’s very thin, flexible qualities it fits unobtrusively in the saddle tray and insures the best possible contact from the saddle and the bridge. Another great innovation for the SST system is an easy access battery compartment for much simplified replacement. On the control panel there is an amp/headphone switch. A musician can flip the switch to “headphones” and the preamp to drive headphones when plugged into the guitar’s output jack. This is perfect for practice and private playing.

Other specifications of the Epiphone SST Studio include:
