The Danelectro Hodad Guitars are back in 2012, these are reissues of Danelectro’s Dual-Lipstick pickup equipped guitars.
The new Hodad guitars come with distinctive Danelectro mojo and are available in Black, Blue Metallic or Red Metallic finishes.
These reissues are similar to their predecessors, adding their own distinctive shapely twist to the traditional Strat curve. This unique double cutaway body is masonite-topped and has a hollow construction with a solid centre core tape binding.
All the Hodad series instruments come with C-shape maple necks that have rosewood fingerboards. The guitar models have 21 frets that are decorated with traditional Pearloid dot inlays. These guitars feature an adjustable bridge and enclosed Kluson style tuners which hold the string together for better intonation.
Hodad guitars features Danelectro’s unique Lipstick style pickups that have Alnico magnets. They are equipped with two pairs of Lipsticks that can act like a humbucker or single coil which you can control via push/pull pot control. Staying true to Danalectro design, the pickups are wired in series, which gives out a unique tone. You also get standard volume and tone knobs that independently control each dual lipstick, and it comes with a straightforward 3-way pickup selector.
The Hodad series also have bass guitar models. These bass guitars have the same features as the guitar, with the difference of having 2 single coil Lipsticks, with each pickup having dedicated knobs for volume and tone controls. The bass guitars also have more frets, with a total of 24. Danelectro Hodad Bass guitars are available in Black or Blue Metallic finish.
Danelectro Hodad 2012 guitar models are currently being sold online for around $399.00.
