G5191TMS Tim Armstrong Signature Electromatic Hollowbody

Gretsch honors Rancid founder Tim Armstrong with new signature models, one being a Bigsby equipped hollow body, the G5191TMS Electromatic.

These new Tim Armstrong Signature guitars expand on the G5191BK model, and add more punk rock capable instruments to the Electromatic series.

This new hollow body guitar is equipped with the same Black Top Filter’Tron pickups that the first Tim Armstrong Electromatic guitar came with. These pickups have been proving to be a good choice for rockers that prefer stylish big bodied electric guitars – it is now being installed many of the new generation Electromatic hollow-body models.

The pickups are controlled by a traditional 3-way switch, independent volume and tone knobs and a master volume knob. To match its gold hardware theme, the pickups feature gold-plated bezels.

The G5191TMS features the same bound single-cutaway hollow body that made Gretsch guitars famous. The 5-ply maple body features parallel tone bar bracing with sound post and bound f holes. The neck is made of maple and topped by a bound rosewood fretboard. It comes at 24.33″ scale length with 22 medium jumbo frets and features an adjustable truss rod, a graphite nut and acrylic block inlays.

Other features of this new hollow body guitar include Rosewood Based Adjusto-Matic, Bigsby Licensed B60G Vibrato Tailpiece and Grover Gold-Plated Enclosed Tuners.

A stop tailpiece version is also available, the G5191MS Tim Armstrong Signature Electromatic guitar features a “harp-like” tailpiece instead of the Bigsby. It has the same features minus the Bigsby, providing better tuning stability at the cost of removing its vibrato capabilities.
