Jackson Adrian Smith Signature SDX
Jackson teams up with Iron Maiden's axe wielder once more to develop an affordable heavy metal super strat - the Adrian Smith Signature SDX.
This guitar is a stripped down version of the Adrian Smith Signature San Dimas Dinky which was released by Jackson back in 2009.
Apart from the Jackson logo, this guitar looks much like a HSS Fender Strat, combining Fender's classic looks and Jackson's playability. It follows the same philosophy of the original Adrian Smith Signature, meld tradition with modern construction and features.
The body of the Jackson Adrian Smith Signature SDX guitar is basswood which is the typical choice of wood for super strats. This may put-off classic strat lovers that prefer alder, but if they have the money, they can look at the pricier version, Adrian Smith Signature San Dimas Dinky which feature an alder body.
Instead of the usual edge shaped body found in Jackson guitars, this signature guitar mimics a traditional Fender strat's double cut-away body design. It features a black pickguard that doesn't stray too far away from traditional design. The guitar comes in a gloss finish labeled as "Snow White".
The Adrian Smith Signature SDX features a bolt-on maple neck. It has 22 jumbo frets and comes with either rosewood or maple fretboards. The neck width at the nut is measured at 1.6875" while the fretboard radius is measured at 12" to 16". The guitar features a comfortable scale of 25.5".
Being a "super strat", this guitar features HSS Jackson pickups controlled by a 5-way selector. It also features a unique Floyd Rose bridge that is top mounted. To wrap up its features and to contrast its snow white finish, all the hardware installed comes in black.
This solidbody electric guitar is expected to have a street price of around $499. For further details on the Adrian Smith Signature SDX, you can visit Jackson Guitars.
