This guitar has generated a lot of interest, thanks to a recent photo shoot where Hetfield had this model in hand. Bearing the LTD logo, this much anticipated signature model will be priced lower than the more expensive ESP version that will also be launched at the same event.

At the time of this writing, the White Iron Cross is not yet listed on the ESP Guitars website, however the important specifics of the guitar are currently being shown by a number of retailers that are already accepting pre-orders for the said instrument.

What sets this guitar apart from other models is its impressive aesthetics. The headstock and body is finished in “snow white”, which is used as a canvass for the black logo and graphics that enhance the guitar’s appearance. The most prominent graphic of the guitar is that of the iron cross, of which the guitar derived its name. Other stylings include a pronounced black stripe on the body, iron cross inlay on the 12th fret, black/white/black pickguard, and James Hetfield’s signature below the black LTD logo on the headstock.

This LP style guitar follows traditional build with its single cut mahogany body and maple top. It has a set mahogany neck topped with an ebony fretboard that matches the black and white theme of the guitar. The 22 XJ-fret fingerbaord has a scale length of 24.75″ and features a 42mm standard nut. The neck profile is carved into a “Thin U” contour to meet the needs of Metallica’s front-man.

ESP equipped the guitar with a pair of EMG JH (B & N) active pickups. The top pickup selector is said to be a dummy, while the three way switch at the bottom is the one that lets you pick or combine the two pickups. Independent volume and tone knobs complete the guitar’s electronics.

All the hardware found on the LTD James Hetfield Iron Cross comes in black color, to contrast the guitar’s white finish. This includes the pickups and pickup covers, LTD locking tuners, TonePros T.O.M. Bridge & Tailpiece and the truss rod cover.

The LTD James Hetfield Iron Cross guitar is currently available for pre-order for $1,099. ESP is gearing up for a big release at the upcoming 2014 NAMM Show, we will keep you updated with notable new guitars as more information becomes available.
