Yamaha unveils special edition classic guitars

Yamaha has announced the release of two very special editions of two of its most successful models – the SG2000 electric and the CPX15II. The SG2000 Vintage White will be available from April 2009 with a retail price of £2,199 (including vintage hardcase) and CPX15II-09 will be available from May 2009 and will be priced at £2,315rrp (including Hiscox hardcase).

SG2000

The SG2000 is the company’s longest-running electric guitar. Originally developed with Carlos Santana in the 1970s, the SG2000 featured through-neck construction, coil-tappable humbuckers and sustain-maximising features like a solid brass block under the stop-tailpiece bridge.

Now handcrafted in Yamaha’s Japanese workshop, the latest models feature all of the construction details of the original together with latest-generation touches including Initial Response Acceleration – a patented process designed to make the guitar respond more like an instrument that has been played in for many years.

For 2009, Yamaha is announcing a very special edition of the SG2000. A special Vintage White model will be produced and is limited to a run of just 50 worldwide. Of these, just 10 examples of this ultra-collectible guitar will be available in the UK.

CPX15II-09

The electro-specific CPX design provided all of the amplified performance of the Yamaha APX range, but with a fuller, louder acoustic tone and a sweetened midrange that was perfect for the new breed of acoustic musicians that are still on song today.

Re-launched in 2006, the latest CPX range features Yamaha’s exclusive ART pickup system and is headed by the flagship CPX15II, handcrafted in the company’s Japanese workshop.

Yamaha is building a very limited number of 2009 Special Edition CPX15II guitars, offer the outstanding construction, incredible playability and road-ready electronics of the regular model but with unique, limited-edition cosmetics.

Limited to just 75 pieces worldwide, with only six pieces for the UK, CPX15II-09 features the regular CPX15 spec of hand-selected spruce and rosewood tonewoods, hand-built construction and setup and Yamaha’s Japan-made, audiophile-grade System 60 preamp.

Offered in an exclusive piano-black gloss finish, CPX15II-09 features a new abalone soundhole rosette and fretboard position markers, never before available on the CPX range.
