D’Addario Gives Extra Push to Guitar.com's TAB Generator

Guitar.com recently launched their new legal TAB service, and D’Addario are lending a hand to try and generate participation by giving away free guitar string sets to users.
The guitar.com Guitar Tab Generator is a browser-based program that allows users to log on to their guitar.com profile and start tabbing out chords, notes, riffs or solos.
The idea is that all the Tablature created and uploaded using their service is automatically licensed via their partnerships with Hal Leonard and Alfred Publishing.
But they have planned a series of rather expensive incentives - the first one involves them giving away a free set of D’Addario guitar strings to each user for every 10 TABs they upload (maxium of 10 sets per user).
Perhaps 10 years ago a legal TAB site might have been a big hit - but it seems that opportunity has long since fizzled with most guitarists already knowing which foreign websites seem to be freely able to provide this kind of thing outside any credible copyright jurisdiction.

What kind of message is this?

As a recording musician myself and a friend of musicians who make part of their living from sheet music sales, your condoning of outright theft here is abhorrent. Here's a company (Guitar.com) trying to do the right thing and you mock them?
Oh, and by the way, just because these illegal sites are hosted in foreign countries doesn't make it right -- or legal -- for U.S. users to illegally download copyrighted material.
Remember, karma is a bitch.
I'm not condoning the illegal sites or illegal activity
I am in no way condoning the illegal sites, in fact GuitarSite.com lost a lot of traffic and advertising revenue both to the foreign ones and the the American ones who blatantly abused copyrights of artists by publishing copies of OLGA before they were finally forced to stop a few years ago. In fact Guitar.com and Harmony Central, when under previous ownership, were both guilty of this.
GuitarSite.com took a stand and never did publish those TAB archives.
You'll also note that I did not name the foreign sites or provide any links to them - the only TAB site I directed people to is the perfectly legitimate one - Guitar.com.
What I'm trying to point out is that the publishing industry left it too late to finally do business with online services - this should have been done a long time ago, and their efforts to shut down illegal sites should have happened a very long time before it did.
I'm not mocking Guitar.com, I'm saying the publishing companies left it too late to both protect the incomes of songwriters, and to engage meaningfully with online services.
And I stand by that claim 100%.
