Jimi Hendrix played onstage with his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding on a Thursday, October 10, 1968.

It was a long weekend at Winterland in San Francisco. The trio came and conquered Winterland in San Francisco, with six sold-out shows over three nights, filling up a 5400-capacity hall. This event coincided with the Electric Ladyland release.

And now, in September of 2011, Experience Hendrix and Legacy Recordings releases the performances on Winterland, in a four-CD deluxe-edition box set that chronicled the event.

Jimi Hendrix fans will dig the previously unreleased music from the Winterland shows, including rare live versions of Little Wing, Manic Depression, Tax free, Are You Experienced and even covers of Howlin’ Wolf’s Killing floor, Cream’s Sunshine of Your Love and Bob Dylan’s Like a Rolling Stone. There is also an interview with Jimi Hendrix backstage shortly after the Winterland performances. Lastly, it includes a book with 36 pages worth of previously unpublished commentary and photos.

Now Fender is giving 15 lucky fans the chance to get this four CD box set for free. To join, all you have to do is go to Fender Hendrix Giveaway and follow the instructions there.
