The AG4P-60 P-Bass Pickup is designed by Aguilar Amplification to be a direct pickup replacement for Fender Precision and other P-Basses.
Being a fan of the humble but tasteful P-Bass, I am happy to see that Aguilar set out to create a bass pickup that closely captures the P-Bass tone of the ’60s.
In order to do this, they studied the pickups of Aguilar President – Dave Boonshoft’s very own 1963 and 1964 Precision Basses. They went all out to make sure that the vibe and feel are modeled in detail. And so the AG 4P-60 was born, bringing the same big round tone that filled the bottom end of almost every hit song in the ’60s.
The AG4P-60 Mid 60’s P Bass 4 string pickup is a sturdy looking pickup, wound in Aguilar’s NYC factory and employs period correct parts which include Alnico V magnets and Heavy Formvar. This will be a hit amongst P-Bass owners as there aren’t that many available options for pickup replacements. This pickup also features cloth-covered single conductor cables.
This new bass guitar pickup from Aguilar is designed to provide the right amount of mid-range “nose” to cut through a loud rock band while giving the bottom end support as expected from P-Bass pickups.
I saw one AG 4P-60 bass pickup set selling online for $159.
