The Hyper Vintage pickups from Railhammer offer the same rail and pole piece combination with a more traditional PAF voiced tone.
The pickups are equipped with Alnico 5 magnets and 42 gauge wire, designed for classic rock, old school metal, punk and blues.
Joe Naylor designed the Hyper Vintage pickups to have a vintage vibe while maintaining the unique advantages of the Railhammer design. For better string to string volume and tone balance, the bridge model is wound to 8.5K while the neck pickup is wound to 7.5K.
Railhammer has a patent pending hybrid design that features rails under the wound strings for providing tighter and clearer lows while the high strings maintain traditional pole pieces. Based on the various user feedback and demo videos, this pickup configuration brings out similar clarity found on active pickups while maintaining harmonic content and organic tone because of its passive design.
The efficient magnetic structure of these pickups also help improve touch sensitivity, harmonics and sustain. Naylor eliminated all moving parts on the design which improves its magnetic field, reducing dead spots when bending strings.
Other notable of the Hyper Vintage set include six screw baseplate, universal spacing and height tapered rails which contributes to the overall volume balance and response of the pickups. It also features four-conductor wiring which can be used for custom wiring like phase, coil split, series/parallel, etc.
