This accessory is designed to easily attach to your Floyd Rose bridge and allow for faster and more accurate intonation adjustments.
First introduced over 35 years ago, the Floyd Rose double locking tremolo helped guitar players expand their playing style, and soon became the bridge of choice for virtuosos world over. However, the ability to dive and pull strings come with strict maintenance requirements and intonation issues, prompting players, luthiers, builders and manufacturers to try and improve on the design, or apply some workarounds.
Now Black Cherry has released an add-on that is meant to deal with the intonation issue. The company says, “The patented Hollow Point Intonation System is the solution to the age old issue of dealing with the difficulties of making fine intonation adjustments in saddle position (under string tension). Once they are installed, a set of Hollow Points can reduce the time it takes to set intonation down to as little as 15-20 seconds per string”.
If their claim is true, this would address both maintenance and intonation issues. Once installed, it will allow you to make precise intonation adjustments, speeding up setup time and simplifying intonation.
Looking at their installation instructions, only a few steps are required, which is not much different than what you would be doing when replacing strings. They claim that quick installation will only take first timers 8-10 minutes, while a more thorough type of installation that requires disassembling the Floyd Rose bridge will take 20 to 30,. minutes. The company also provides easy to follow instructions on how to quickly intonate once the Hollow Point Intonation system is installed, and thankfully the instructions are easy to understand and does not require anything outside of what you do when doing maintenance work on your Floyd Rose equipped guitar.
Aside from decreasing downtime and improving intonation, Black Cherry mentions that this add-on will increase the mass of your bridge, resulting in increased sustain. They also add to the aesthetic appeal of your guitar, and comes in three finishes – Gold, Black and Chrome. You can simply pick one that matches the color scheme of your instrument.

This really looks cool! Kinda completes the look of the Floyd. I always hated the skinny string lock screws sticking out from the end. Putting the Hollow Points on them makes the Floyd look “finished.” I will definitely check these out!
