These sets are designed to work well with low end riff work that 8-string guitars are known for, they also feature flexible plain steel strings for bending.

XL Nickel wound series feature precisely wound with nickel-plated steel, wrapped around a hexagonal high carbon steel core. This design is known for its longer lifespan and has a distinctive brighter tone, and is most popular electric guitar strings among their products. So it only makes sense that D'Addario decided to make it available for 8-string axe wielders.

The EXL120-8 is based on D-Addario's EXL 120-7, with the addition of a 065 string that is tuned to low F#. These strings are super light gauge, ideal for playing fast and furious, the light strings also help relieve some stress on your 8-string guitar. EXL120-8 is optimized for F#, B, E, A, D, G, B, E tuning and have the following string gauges: Plain Steel .009, .011 .016, Nickel Wound .024, .032, .042, .054, .065.

What the heck does Cheap

What the heck does Cheap Jimmy Choo Shoes have to do with D'Addario strings??? Oh yeah, they are both cheap and made in China and break at the ball. Loved them in the 80's but after breaking 2 strings from 2 sets within 1 minute of stringing-up.....sorry. Never again.

I've used D'Addario strings

I've used D'Addario strings for my electric and nylon stringed guitars for years and this never happened to me - sounds like you got very unlucky.
