D'Addario NYXL Strings - Strongest Ever!
D'Addario releases the NYXL strings, claimed to be the strongest electric guitar strings ever made.

The company stated that they re-engineered this new string set from the ball end up, resulting in increased tuning and breakage stability.
According to the press release, NYXL strings represent the third generation of the brand's round-wound string design. The first generation strings originated in the '50s, and they are made using pure nickel. The second generation was the nickel-plated steel string design, which continues to be the industry standard up to this day.
Company CEO Jim D'Addario says, "There have been only two meaningful generations of round wound electric guitar strings. The original formula, originating in the 1950s, used pure nickel, creating a characteristically mellow sound. In the early sixties, my father, John D’Addario, Sr. introduced a brighter sounding, second generation nickel-plated steel string, which became the industry standard for the next five decades. Today, 80% of all electric guitar strings are based on his formula."
The NYXL is the long awaited next generation design, completely re-designed to achieve a level of stability surpasses that of existing strings in the market. The official torture tests say that the strings stay in tune 131% better compared to its predecessors!
Jim continues, "This is the strongest set of electric guitar strings ever made. Arriving here wasn’t easy. Our engineers traveled many paths, starting with the selection of new high-carbon steel alloys, completely re-imagining the wire drawing process, and revolutionizing the corrosion-resistant tin coating application. The result is something you have never experienced before: unprecedented strength and pitch stability."
Aside from its high break point and improved tuning stability, the reformulated nickel-plated steel alloy used in NYXL is also designed to bend farther and sing louder. It boosts amplitude in the 1 kHz to 3.5 kHz range, which effectively improves overall tone while retaining the familiar nickel-plated steel feel. The official statement says that the new alloy used has 6% more magnetic permeability for higher output, this results in improved crunch, punch and bit.
Jim concludes by adding, "The name of these strings, NYXL, is also an important distinction for us; our family and company have a rich history in New York. Our new steel wire has been formulated, created, crafted, and perfected here in the Empire State. We are proud of our New York legacy, and even prouder that all of our strings originate at our Long Island home."
The new D'Addario NYXL is currently being sold online for $12. Visit D'Addario for more information.

When you consider how much time and effort you put into getting your rig to sound just the way you want, it makes sense to ensure your guitar cables are also up to the job - after all they're an important part of the tone chain. Also remember that occasionally things will go wrong, so always carry at least one spare cable to gigs and rehearsals.
