While the profiler is compatible with MIDI foot controllers, it would still benefit from a true integrated controller. Thankfully the company is finally making a floor pedal that is specifically designed for the Profiler.

While the Kemper Profiler’s sound ranks among the best of today’s amp modelers, being able to operate it live without someone else pushing the buttons and tweaking the knobs for you, can be quite a challenge. So for us players that want to make changes to our sound in realtime with our feet, the Profiler Remote is going to be a welcome addition.

As expected, it comes in a sturdy metal housing that matches the aesthetics and feel of the Profiler Rack and Lunchbox style amp. Instead of using traditional cables, this pedal connects to the amp via an included 7 meter long Ethernet cable, which allows it to better integrate with the Kemper Profiler’s many settings and at the same time draw power from the amp. The Profiler Remote also comes with 4 direct connectors for hooking up your favorite pedals, much like you would a regular rig.

The front fascia footswitches will let you instantly save and recall 5 program patches (Rigs), patch bank up and down, utilize the Tuner with three LEDs, and it also includes a 30 sec. stereo Looper. Tap Tempo is also provided, which drives the unique real time Beat Scanner. Four dedicated Stomp FX footswitches are also available for additional expression pedals and external switches. This allow for direct control over the effects that you have set up on each of your virtual rigs or patches.

The four Stomp FX switches are freely assignable, allowing you to toggle the effects as well as trigger special features in certain effects. You can customize the footswitch assignment per Rig, and you can even assign multiple stomps and effects to a single switch. Assigning the virtual effects to the footswitches were simplified, simply press the Stomp Button on the Profiler and the respective button on the Remote simultaneously.

Another welcome feature of the Profiler Remote is the built-in 30-second stereo looper. When activated it changes the functions of some of the switches into Looper controls that include Record, Play, Stop Reverse, Trigger, Halftime and undo/redo.

Kemper bundles the pedal with a Neutrik etherCON cable connector carrier along with the Ethernet cable. For bigger venues where your amp and floorboard is separated by huge distances, you can utilize additional powered Ethernet hubs, this allows you to cover distances of more than 300 ft, probably more than you’ll ever need for the usual gigs.

The company also improved the preset switching response time, they say “With the Profiler Remote, Kemper have significantly accelerated the Rig switching time. What’s even better: they managed to avoid the usual silent gap that happens when switching to the next sound and turn it into a smooth crossfade. In conjunction with the implicit spillover of delay and reverb the Profiler provides the smoothest sound switch transitions in the industry.”

The new Kemper Profiler Remote is expected to retail for around $600 within the 1st quarter of 2015. Visit Kemper Amps for more information.
