Wendler Instruments releases the "MagPi" system for archtop guitars
The MagPi pickup system for archtop guitars is designed to add more acoustic presence to the typical magnetic pickup equipped archtop. This add-on piezo pickup is totally passive, non intrusive and completely reversible. While installation by a qualified tech is recommended, it is a simple matter to not only install the pickup, but to remove it with no evidence of it ever being in the guitar. Designed to bring out the acoustic qualities and presence that is so often missed in a pure magnetic pickup scheme, the MagPi will broaden the tonal palette of any archtop, from the most expensive hand carved instrument to the the lowliest import.

From the outset, the MagPi was designed to plug into the typical electric guitar amp, without any additional buffering preamp or active scheme necessary. By routing the signal from the piezo through the highly inductive magnetic pickup that most archtops are already equipped with, the harshness usually associated with piezos disappear, and a totally organic, dynamically sensitive response awaits the guitarist. You will still be able to achieve the fat, rich magnetics based tone arch tops are famous for, and add a whole new acoustic palette to your tone arsenal. The system also has an added benefit of reducing feedback tendancies in these large bodied guitars. The MagPi is also equally effective in "thinline style" hollow body instruments. The system is available for either a single or dual pickup guitar, and is suitable for use in flattop style guitars.
