These three new capos feature new designs that aim to improve on the familiar capo, with features that are specific to the type of instrument being used, and offer improved playing convenience. All three will be on exhibit at the upcoming 2014 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA.

Rob Cunningham, Planet Waves Product Manager, says: “Planet Waves is continuously determined to answer the needs of performers. That’s why we’ve added these new capos which round out our line. The new NS Artist Capo is designed for minimal interference with fretting hand while solving the tuning issues associated with trigger style capos. The NS Banjo/Mandolin Capo Pro and NS Ukulele Capo Pro are optimized for those particular instruments, providing a gratifying, in-tune playing experience.

The NS Artist capo features a patented trigger geometry that reduces the force required to open and close the capo, making it equally convenient to clamp, remove and move the capo around the neck during performance. This design makes it clamp to the front of the neck, reducing unnecessary obstruction and string tension, while providing even tension across the strings.

Since it clamps on the front, the typical problem of side-to-side string pulling as seen on regular capos are reduced, and it improves tuning stability as you move the clamp or move the capo around. If that is not enough, a micrometer tension adjustment dial is also provided for fine tuning the tension on the strings.

The capo is built using lightweight aluminum to make it more convenient to carry around and to ensure that it adds no noticeable weight and stress to the neck. This capo comes with NS Micro Tuner mounting bracket, which will let you add an optional tuner. Rounding off the capos features is an integrated pick holder, which is a smart and useful feature. The NS Artist Capo, designed in conjunction with Ned Steinberger, is now available and retails for $31.99.

Aside from the new NS Artist Capo, D’Addio/Planet Waves is also releasing Ned Steinberger co-designed capos for ukulele – the NS Ukulele Capo Pro, and for banjos and mandolins – the NS Banjo/Mandolin Capo Pro. These capos bring the same NS design for use by banjo, mandolin and ukulele players. Here is how they describe the new capos: “These new capos assure buzz-free, in-tune performance at any fret as they are equipped with a micrometer adjustment mechanism which allows the player to dial in the exact tension needed for clear ringing notes without excessive force in any position on the neck. This greatly reduces the need to retune the instrument during and after capo use. The sleek aircraft-grade, aluminum construction can withstand the toughest playing and touring schedule while adding negligible additional weight or obstruction to the instrument.” The capos are shipping now and have a retail price of $26.99

D’Addario will be exhibiting these new NS Capos at their NAMM 2014 Booth #4834, from January 23 to 26, 2014. Head over to D’Addario for more information.
