Parker Guitars with Custom Seymour Duncan Pickups

Parker Guitars announce pickup upgrade for their USA Fly and MaxxFly humbucker equipped guitars.

Seymour Duncan with Black Screws and Logo

The new pickups are based on Seymour Duncan’s ’59 SH1N, Jazz SH2N and JB TB4 pickups, but with aesthetic modifications to match the two USA made Parker guitars.

Parker and Seymour Duncan modified the three pickups aesthetically to emphasize the black hardware color theme of the USA Flys and MaxxFlys. They added 2 rows of black screws with the second row of screws replacing the old standard flat pole piece. The Seymour Duncan logo is also black in keeping with the theme.

According to Parker Guitars, “The new pickups will tie in nicely with the current all black hardware on USA Flys and Maxflys while still making a quality statement with the subtly visible Seymour Duncan name. Having 2 rows of black screws will provide unprecedented control over string to string balance, allowing players to tailor the response of the pickup to their individual playing style with more precision than ever before.”

The Parker Fly’s distinct look, lightweight and tonal versatility have helped popularize the brand, so much so that its esoteric design have become familiar. The current Fly Deluxe model weighs in at approximately 5 lbs., and features a Basswood neck and Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners. The body of the guitar is made from solid Poplar, which according to the brand gives an edge that’s characteristic of R&B and Country & Western. The new Seymour Duncan magnetic pickups will be working in conjunction with a Graph Tech ghost piezo electronics system, allowing for expanded sonic possibilities.

The relatively newer Parker MaxxFly has a slightly tamer and more traditional body shape when compared to the Fly. The HSS models come with a carved Alder body and Basswood neck, while the dual humbucker model features carved Mahogany body and Mahogany neck. The flared headstock provides more strength and allows for a thinner profile and a faster, more comfortable neck. The same Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners along with Graph Tech ghost piezo saddles Acousti-phonic Modular Pre-amp.

Parker is currently shipping 6 string models with these new Seymour Duncan pickups, 7 string models will soon be available. Visit Parker Guitars for more information on their electric guitars.
