This is the smallest gear to carry the company’s polyphonic tuning technology, and they claim that it is the first polyphonic clip-on tuner to hit the market.

This clip-on tuner carries over many of the features found on the popular tuner pedal, including accurate monophonic tuning and more notably the automatic polyphonic tuning function.

TC Electronic said that they found ways to improve on the original design while miniaturizing, they added that this is the best PolyTune that they’ve ever made, suggesting that it is better than the previous pedal versions.

The new PolyTune Clip comes with three modes – Polyphonic, Chromatic and Strobe. Chromatic is what conventional tuners come with, allowing you to tune your strings the traditional way, one at a time, ideal for quick tuning in between performances. The Strobe tuner mode offers improved precision of up to +/- 0.02 cents, this is great when you are setting up your guitar and especially useful when doing repairs or adjustments to the neck, string height and anything else related to the strings. While this mode takes longer, it is the mode that gives you the best tuning results.

Just like the original pedal, the third mode of this clip on tuner gives you polyphonic tuning capability. This allows the tuner to detect the tuning of all your strings simultaneously as you make them sound, allowing you to tune all your strings with just one strum. This particular mode simplifies and shortens tuning, perfect for situations where in you have a limited amount of time to check on your tuning and make adjustments, like during short rests within a song.

TC Electronic knows that great detection would be useless if visual monitoring can not keep up, and so they designed the PolyTune Clip to have an ultra-bright adaptive display that provide quick and direct visual feedback of the measurements and changes. The screen also automatically flips as you change the position of the clip, which lets you have good readout and proper orientation wherever you place the clip on your headstock. This means that however your position preference is, even if you are a lefty, you will be able to see the display without problems.

From the stainless steel clip, to the strategically placed paddings, down to the custom designed resin compound chassis, the new PolyTune Clip is designed to be reliable, durable and safe. It will easily and securely latch onto whatever guitar you have, and you don’t have to worry about it leaving a mark on your instrument.
Although a bit trivial, even the color of the chassis was specifically formulated to match the finish of the original PolyTune pedal.

The company concludes, “Through a massive engineering feat we managed to condense our proprietary PolyTune algorithm, shrink key components and increase battery life all while creating a tuner more powerful than any PolyTune released before it.”

PolyTune Clip is set for an early July release, with a surprisingly reasonable retail price of just under $50. For more information and to check out the specifications of this tuner, head over to TC Electronic.
