The amPlug 2 line features totally redesigned analog circuitry, with built-in effects for the guitar models, and built-in rhythm patterns for the bass model.

First released in 2007, the amPlug line has expanded to cover a wide variety of sounds, including artist signature tones, acoustic guitar tones and bass - all easily accessible by plugging straight to your instrument and your headphones.

This year, Vox introduces four new models that represent the next iteration of their popular amPlug series. The official description describes how the new models offer improved tones, "A multi-stage gain circuit featuring VOX's proprietary analog technology perfectly reproduces the complex distortion created by a vacuum tube amplifier."

For better compatibility with different guitar shapes and output jack locations, a new folding plug mechanism is introduced. This will let you rotate the plug to a full 180 degrees to conveniently fit into any guitar, even exotic shaped ones.

This new line of guitar headphone amps will start with three guitar models that cover various levels of gain, and one bass model. As expected the AC30 is the first to get the amPlug 2 treatment, emulating the top boost tone of the most popular amplifier to come out of Vox. The Classic Rock model is designed to deliver the crunchy tone of British amps, while the Metal model is meant for high-gain tones. Finally the Bass model is meant for bass players that want to hone their craft without disturbing their neighbors and loved ones.

Note that the four new amPlug 2 units offer three amp voicings, which allows for some sonic variety. In addition, Vox equipped the three guitar models with a total of nine effects - three chorus, three delay and three reverb effects. These effects will let you reproduce essential guitar tones for more exciting practice sessions. The Bass model comes with nine built-in rhythm patterns that will help the bass player in practicing his timing and groove.

Other features include 17 hours of battery life with automatic power-off function to prolong battery life, and an Aux input for jamming with your favorite tracks.

The new amPlug 2 series is set for release in November, with a retail price of around $50 each. Visit Vox for more information.
