Guitar Center's Singer-Songwriter Contest
Guitar Center in its aim to help and discover unsigned artists has launched "The Singer Songwriter Contest".
Guitar Center together with multiple guitar and gear manufacturers are looking to give one life altering opportunity to a deserving top notch singer-songwriter.
And that could be no less than you. So sift through your demos, pick the very best, evaluate what you've done, re-work the things that needs improvement, make sure you give it your all with guns blazing then submit! This is your shot at greatness.
Tim Godwin, the director of artist and entertainment relations at Taylor Guitars, recognizes the many talents and the need to propel them into the right direction. Tim says - "So much great talent abounds in today's music scene that we're excited to partner with Guitar Center to find the next big name and help propel that artist to the next step in their career."
John Shanks, a former session and touring guitar player, knows how important opportunities are. He has since built a power house career as a hit maker with 43 No.1 Singles, 67 No.1 Albums and 60 Million records sold with artists including Keith Urban, Bon Jovi, Alanis Morissette, Colbie Caillat, Sheryl Crow and Kelly Clarkson. Sitting in as a judge, he knows that finding the next hit-maker will not be an easy task but he is thrilled to be able to help Guitar Center give a potential career boosting opportunity to an unsigned artist. Shanks said "Helping an artist hone their sound is something I relish as a producer, and I can't wait to see what the winner has to offer."
WHOOZNXT.com was commissioned by Guitar Center to track and rank the competing artists' fan growth across top social networks and music sites for the first round. Ten talented singer-songwriters will then be hand picked by Shanks from the list of the top ranking artists. These lucky ten will be flying to Los Angeles to perform for the Singer-Songwriter Contest's live finale.

When you consider how much time and effort you put into getting your rig to sound just the way you want, it makes sense to ensure your guitar cables are also up to the job - after all they're an important part of the tone chain. Also remember that occasionally things will go wrong, so always carry at least one spare cable to gigs and rehearsals.
