Tap into a Kelstone

What is a Kelstone? Well, I’m glad you asked…

Update: Kelstone are about to bring out a new batch of instruments, so they’re having a sale on the current stock and you can currently buy them for 606€ instead of the regular 1107€.

A Kelstone is a 9-stringed fretted instrument which you play with both hands on top of the fretboard.

It has a range of 5 octaves tuned in fourths with the open strings being: B-E-A-D-G-C-F-Bb-Eb.

Perhaps the best way to understand the instrument is to watch the following video:

To help promote themselves, Kelstone are giving you the chance to win one of their unique fretted instruments, along with a with stand, dynamic muting pedal, and gigbag worth 1361€.

To enter the competition you need to make a video recording of yourself playing any stringed instrument where you have both hands on top of the strings – you’re not allowed to place a hand around the neck.

Deciding who wins is simple – whichever video entry has the most views when the competition ends on the 25th of November 2011 wins.

I play an Appalachian dulcimer so this sits on ones lap or a table and one frets and plays from above.
