Kirk's Guitar Lesson: Fingerstyle
By Kirk Lorange
Hi, fellow twanger. It's been a while since I've posted here. I'll try and get here more often to alert you to my latests lessons.
I uploaded a new one the other day, one for the more advanced player. It's a finger style rendition of that beautiful tune 'La Paloma', written way back in the 1860s. It has to be one of the most popular and memorable melody lines ever.
My arrangement is in the key of A. I tried a few, but A turned out to be the easiest to get around. There's a whole lot of travelling up and down the fretboard for this one, and a bunch of harmony lines in 3rds and 6ths, so you'll need to keep your wits about you to keep all on track. I guess (as usual) the hardest thing is to keep that flow going. No flow, no music.
The lesson is here: www.guitarforbeginners.com/Lessons/La_Paloma.html
Since my last post here, I've created many other fingerstyle movie lessons, so make sure you check the list out here: www.guitarforbeginners.com/forum/index.php?/forum/74-finger-style-lessons
My book/DVD/slide-rule/CD-ROM package continues to shed glaring light on the mysterious art of navigating the fretboard. If you're one of those players who has reached his/her level of frustration, you should check it out. If you want to turn the whole fretboard into friendly, well-worn, familiar territory, this is the package for you. Not only that, this week I'm offering a 20% discount, good until the 20th of this month. It's not a cheap package, so here's your chance to save some bucks. Don't forget that included in the price is unlimited access to the private PlaneTalkers' Forum where you can ask me, the author, questions until the cows come home.

Slide Guitar in Standard Tuning
The DVD I put together about the art of playing slide in standard tuning (my favorite way of playing the guitar) is a regular seller too. I also sell the beautiful slides, machined out of solid brass. They're heavy, and heavy is the secret to getting sustain and tone out of a slide.

Although the same volume balancing principle is used by all of these pedals, their approach, methodology and flexibility can vary. As such, your needs will depend on your playing style, be it versatility or simplicity and modern transparency or vintage style "warm" compression. Whatever your preference maybe, you will find a fitting compressor pedal right here in this list.
