Kirk’s Weekly Guitar Lesson: The Star Spangled Banner

By Kirk Lorange

Hello, fellow twanger. It's been a while, I know, but I've been up to here in movie footage, timelines, graphics, mp3s, php and html … busy revamping my site. I'm finally done, it's looking good I reckon and you can check it all out at Guitar for Beginners and Beyond.

Finger Style Lessons … I have managed to get a couple in over the last couple of months.

The Star Spangled Banner

This is a fairly straight forward Dropped D arrangement of this great old anthem. Dropped D is such a neat tuning and one that's well worth getting familiar with. I've used my new cameras for this one, with a great 'player's-point-of-view' angle showing exactly what the left hand is doing. Click here for the lesson.

June Tune

A first look at an interesting progression that I'll use for a few more lessons. We'll see how it looks and sounds in various positions and voicings. This one also uses the overhead shot. Click here for the lesson.

PlaneTalk – The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book/DVD

A package that's been selling daily for over 10 years now, still going strong, revealing the dead-easy way of turning your fretboard into familiar, well-worn territory no matter how complex the music. Also teaches a mindset that (with plenty of practice, of course) allows you to improvise without worrying about scales and modes. Read all about it here and read the many testimonials here.

My YouTube Channel

4.3 Million views of my guitar movies so far. If you're into slide, finger style and bluesy pickin', check it out.

Enjoy the lessons, say hi on the new forum too!

All the best,

Kirk
