MODKits DIY released its new limited edition DIY tube distortion pedal – The Inducer.
DIY(Do It Yourself) kits offers us a chance to create our own amp and effects, it also gives us that rare opportunity to better understand the inner workings of tone. And this is a welcome experience for all gear enthusiasts because the more we understand how tone is created, the easier we can produce great tone.
The Inducer is the latest DIY kit by MODkits DIY. It is designed to use a New-Old-Stock 6189WJAN (Joint Army Navy) Philips vacuum tube.
This tube is a special 12AU7, it was transformed into a reliable and sturdy material for use in military technology and operations. They were used in ships, aviation communications and other military mobile devices. This makes the 6189 an excellent choice for use inside an effects pedal.
The 6189 tube is known for its reduced microphonics, and linearity. What makes this tube standout is its significantly longer life span, you won’t have to worry about carrying fragile tubes to your gigs. When driven hard, the 6189 tube produces beefy distortion that will surprise many players when they realize that it came out of a DIY pedal. The Inducer uses the same circuit as the Persuader Kit from MODKits DIY, the addition of the 6189 tube gives the Inducer its unique distortion signature.
The kits can be modified by advanced users and can easily be followed by novice users. Each kit use point to point wiring and are already pre-drilled. These pedals will operate on a 9V battery or on an optional 9V adapter.
Only 30 Inducer kits, with hand designed box, will be released so expect it to get out of stock really fast. For more information head over to MODkitsDIY.com.
